Kazakhstan Draws Record Capital Inflows While Advancing in Global Investor Safety Index

Kazakhstan’s Bureau of National Statistics data places total investment inflows for the first six months of 2026 at more than 20 billion dollars reflecting a 9.6 percent increase from the corresponding period a year earlier while private investment rose more than 21 percent. The country advanced 17 places in the Safest Countries for Investors 2026 ranking to reach 53rd position out of 150 according to an Arab Times report emerging as the leading economy in Central Asia ahead of Uzbekistan at 81st Kyrgyzstan at 96th and Tajikistan at 97th. This progress comes as investors place greater weight on institutional stability and policy predictability across emerging markets.

The International Monetary Fund projects that Kazakhstan’s economy will grow 4.6 percent in 2026 a forecast echoed in steady growth expectations from the World Bank for the years ahead. Figures from the Bureau of National Statistics show GDP expanded 6.5 percent in 2025 from the prior year and rose an additional 4.1 percent in the first half of 2026. Construction activity surged more than 15 percent in the January-June period with manufacturing transport and logistics also delivering robust results.

Investment is shifting toward manufacturing infrastructure agriculture and information technology in line with efforts to lessen reliance on extractive industries and build a more diversified economy. The nation’s geographic position bridging China Russia the Caucasus and Europe positions it to benefit from expanding Eurasian transport networks. President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s government has prioritised higher-quality investments localisation and technological upgrades through targeted policy adjustments.

Several new initiatives support capital attraction including an Investment Headquarters a National Digital Investment Platform and long-term investment agreements that guarantee stable conditions for up to 25 years. The forthcoming Altyn Visa programme will offer investors entrepreneurs and skilled professionals streamlined access to services and quota-free employment. Kazakhstan continues to account for the bulk of foreign direct investment accumulated across Central Asia maintaining its status as the region’s dominant recipient. International credit agencies have affirmed the country’s ratings with Fitch Ratings holding it at BBB with a stable outlook S&P Global Ratings at BBB- with positive outlook and Moody’s at Baa1 with positive outlook. The country has also registered gains in competitiveness peace and sustainable development indices.
