The Public Authority for Food and Nutrition conducted an intensive inspection in the Mahboula area on August 1 in partnership with Ahmadi Governorate teams and representatives from multiple local centers. Arab Times reported that the participating units included those from Fahaheel, Fintas, Sabah Al-Ahmad, Ali Sabah Al-Salem and the samples department. This multi-agency effort focused on identifying and addressing deficiencies in food handling practices and licensing compliance at commercial establishments.
According to the report, the campaign resulted in 50 violations being issued for issues such as the lack of valid health certificates, health and safety breaches, unlicensed or expired licenses and the use of unauthorized spaces. The teams seized and destroyed 500 kilograms of meat that failed to meet quality specifications during the operation. They further collected 26 food samples that were transferred to laboratories for testing to ensure they posed no risk to consumers.
PAFN has carried out comparable campaigns in other districts with one in Farwaniya recently leading to the destruction of 195.2 kilograms of rotten meat after violations were logged there. Times Kuwait reported on the Farwaniya case which involved adulterated food handling. In broader terms, the authority has overseen the destruction of 36,540 kilograms of unfit food in its recent efforts, according to statements compiled from official channels.
Kuwait maintains strict food safety protocols given its reliance on imported goods for the bulk of its consumption needs. The Public Authority for Food and Nutrition plays a central role in these regulatory activities through regular market surveillance and sampling. Laboratory results often determine the fate of suspected items and guide future enforcement priorities.
The authority stated that the campaigns continue with the goals of field supervision, food safety and quality improvement as well as consumer health protection. Multiple such operations have taken place in recent months across Kuwait. Samples collected during these drives routinely undergo laboratory analysis to confirm their safety.
