The Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly condemned the Israeli occupation prime minister’s entry with several aides into occupied Syrian territory. The ministry called it a blatant violation of Syria’s sovereignty, a clear breach of international law and relevant UN Security Council resolutions, Arab Times reported on November 20, 2025. In the statement, it reiterated Kuwait’s full support for Syria’s independence and sovereignty over all its territory while urging the Security Council to ensure full compliance with the 1974 ceasefire agreement.
The ministry further called for stopping ongoing Israeli attacks on Syrian territory and other countries in the region to maintain peace and stability. Saudi Arabia and Qatar joined in the condemnation with similar statements. This collective stance from Gulf states underscores the regional concern over the incident.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu toured the buffer zone on the Syrian side of the Golan Heights on November 19, 2025. He was accompanied by Defense Minister Israel Katz, Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar, military chief Eyal Zamir and Shin Bet director David Zini. The prime minister’s office said he observed the area from an IDF outpost and held a security briefing there.
Speaking to soldiers, Netanyahu said, «Israel attaches great importance to its capabilities, both defensive and offensive, in this area, to protecting our Druze allies in the Syrian side of the Golan Heights, and above all, to safeguarding Israel and its northern border facing the Golan. This is a mission that can develop at any moment.» The tour comes amid U.S.-brokered talks on a security agreement for southern Syria areas controlled by Israeli forces after the fall of Bashar al-Assad in December 2024.
Kuwait’s position aligns with its repeated affirmations of support for Syria’s territorial integrity in the wake of the 2024 regime change. The ministry has issued multiple statements over the past year denouncing Israeli military actions in the country. These include condemnations of airstrikes and ground incursions that it says threaten regional security.
