The workshop formed part of broader efforts at Kuwait University to link academic training with real-world sports administration. His remarks aligned with the event focus on creating stronger ties between campus sports programs and professional media outlets operating across Kuwait.
Regional demand for quality sports content has expanded markedly in recent years. Mordor Intelligence projected that the Middle East sports media market will register an 18.18 percent compound annual growth rate through 2031 driven by state-backed investments in broadcasting rights and production facilities. The same outlook noted that sovereign funding has enabled construction of advanced studios and training programs for media professionals throughout the Gulf.
An Oliver Wyman analysis released in 2025 found that 85 percent of the Middle East population regularly follows sports content while only 30 percent take part in physical activity creating what the consultancy termed a 75 billion dollar opportunity for economic gains. The firm added that governments in the region have pledged 100 billion dollars in infrastructure spending by 2034 with the goal of lifting annual participation rates by 5 percent. These figures illustrate the rising importance of skilled sports journalism to sustain public interest and commercial growth.
Al-Sahli returned to the value of collaborative initiatives between universities and sports bodies in his closing comments. He pointed to the photography display as an example of how different media skills can be highlighted in educational settings. The combined elements of the July 23 workshop provided participants with both theoretical guidance and visual illustrations of professional output in the field.
