The Sun detailed how the Al-Nassr and Portugal superstar will combine production duties with an on-screen appearance in the project. Damian Lewis, known for his lead roles in Homeland and Billions, will portray fictional top agent Stanley Dalton at the heart of the story. Thierry Henry is also expected to feature, adding further star power to the cast.
Production has started at Barnet FC’s stadium in northwest London, with scenes already captured on location. The series originated from an idea by football agent Darren Dein and is being developed via UR•Marv Studios, the company Ronaldo co-founded with Kingsman director Matthew Vaughn earlier this year according to Deadline. This marks the football icon’s first major step into scripted television drama.
The show will explore the high-stakes dealings and personal pressures in the football agency business through its fictional lens. Coverage indicated it aims for a realistic tone distinct from lighter sports comedies. A television source told The Sun that the project could spark a bidding war among streamers given the high-profile names attached both on and off screen.
Ronaldo, aged 41, remains an active player for Al-Nassr in the Saudi Pro League while captaining Portugal. He previously appeared in the 2015 documentary Ronaldo that offered insights into his life and career. The Sun described the drama involvement as a surprising yet significant expansion for the five-time Ballon d’Or winner.
A television insider told The Sun, «It’s likely to spark a bidding war between the streamers. The sheer calibre of figures behind it, not to mention the cast, means it’s a prestige project — albeit a surprising one for Ronaldo as he crosses into making dramas.» Reports from outlets including GOAL and Deadline have corroborated key details of the collaboration. No release date or additional casting announcements have been made public so far.
